What is eTwinning?

eTwinning is Europe’s largest education community, established to promote cooperation between schools across Europe. It is designed for teachers, school principals, librarians, and other education staff working in schools in the participating countries.

eTwinning provides various digital tools and support to enable teachers to communicate, cooperate, develop projects, and share examples of good practice. Participants can carry out both short- and long-term projects and implement these projects with students.

eTwinning encourages cultural exchange, creativity, and the use of innovative learning methods between schools through the effective use of information technology.

eTwinning was launched by the European Commission in 2005 and is integrated into the Erasmus+ program. As of 2025, the eTwinning activity continues to be implemented in 45 member countries. These countries are: Germany, Albania, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Armenia, Estonia, Finland, France, Palestine, Cyprus (Greek Cypriot Administration), Georgia, Netherlands, Croatia, Ireland, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Iceland, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, Republic of Moldova, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Jordan, and Greece.

eTwinning promotes school cooperation in Europe by providing the necessary support, tools, and services through the use of Information and Communication Technologies, facilitating schools to establish short- and long-term partnerships on any subject.

Since 2022, eTwinning activity has been carried out through the European School Education Platform – ESEP (https://school-education.ec.europa.eu/tr/etwinning).

On this platform, teachers can:

• Start projects,

• Share good practices, and

• Access educational resources.
