Let My Forests Not Burn, Let My Saplings Grow
The "Let My Forests Not Burn, Let My Saplings Grow" project is the shared commitment of 12 schools from 5 different nations (Turkey, France, Greece, Sweden, Spain). Our project was born to defend The Planet's Lung and protect our Green Heritage from turning into ashes. This is more than just an international collaboration; it is a mission to generate a massive wave of awareness. Hundreds of students and teachers are weaving The Forest Safety Net by increasing individual responsibility and strengthening local cooperation. Our Aim: To base our efforts on fire awareness, to take action, and by growing every sapling, to leave a clean breath and a livable world for future generations. We believe that with your participation in this vital struggle, this awakening will transform into lasting change.
To understand the causes and effects of forest fires. To raise awareness of biodiversity and the importance of forest ecosystems. To promote international collaboration and environmental responsibility. To improve students’ digital and language (English) skills. To support local ecosystems through sapling planting. To develop practical, sustainable solutions at the local, national and international level.
Students and teachers meet on international online platforms (Padlet/TwinSpace/ Zoom). Short introduction videos and presentations are shared. Students conduct brief research about local forest areas.
Collaborative project logo design involving students and teachers. Prepare and implement students and teachers’ surveys to measure expectations and interests. International Digital Posters and Short Videos Campaign: Each school creates a poster and a short video about forest fire awareness. Contributions are combined into a shared gallery and an international awareness video.
Organize local sapling planting events. Run digital awareness campaigns (posters, short videos, social media posts). Conduct an international “Ideas Lab” to develop strategies for forest protection and fire prevention.
Celebrate International Environment Day or Forest Week with webinars or online meetings. Present project outcomes and prepare a digital exhibition (virtual exhibition). Implement students and teachers’ surveys for feedback and evaluation. Collaboratively create an eBook or digital magazine titled: “Young Voices for the Forest”.
Digital awareness campaigns (posters, videos, podcasts). Collaborative eBook or digital magazine. Virtual exhibition and interactive presentations. Documentation of sapling planting activities (photos and videos). Students and teachers’ feedback reports.
Methodology: The approach will center on Project-Based Learning (PBL). Collaboration Tools: Digital tools such as Padlet, Canva, Genially, TwinSpace, Wakelet will be used for international collaboration. Assessment: Continuous assessment will be conducted through rubrics, self and peer evaluation.
Implemented students and teachers’ surveys. Students self and peer assessment (based on participation, creativity, and collaboration). Observation of the impact of sapling planting and awareness campaigns in schools and communities.
Increased awareness of environmental issues and forest protection. Direct contribution to local ecosystems through sapling planting. Improved digital and language (English) skills. Engagement of families and local communities. Strengthened international cooperation and exchange of ideas.
